The shredding of food waste and other organic waste serves to prepare for environmentally friendly energy generation, for example in biogas plants. In addition to generating electricity or heat from biowaste, shredded biowaste/food is also used to produce biodiesel.
Biowaste shredding is used wherever longer storage of biowaste is required, such as on cruise ships. Mercodor shredders are used here to reduce the volume of food and biowaste produced.
